[ There's moments of pause where Sousuke has to pick the pace immediately after: dodging couples that refuse to part, random passerby's, and even someone who decided that cycling on the sidewalk is a good idea. But his blood is pumping, heart racing, and the excitement and challenge of it all makes brings an all too evident smile on his face. If it were a straight line it would remind him of being on the field, aiming for the first plate after a shitty hit, but—

It's like time stops, his body going sluggish as his mind is suddenly overwhelmed with what can only be another memory. A street he's never seen before, the sun shining perfectly as he looks over his shoulder and sees a younger version of Rin tailing behind him. Bright, energetic, before he's looking forward again to see a building.
"If you can't beat on land then you definitely can't beat me in the water!"
Because that makes sense.
But now's not the time for Sousuke to be sarcastic with his past self. He's has slowed down enough for Mafuyu to catch him, and to be perfectly honest he's ready to let this game be over and done with. ]
[ Mafuyu notices that slow and doesn't relent, slamming into Sousuke's back at full force without slowing down at all in case it were a trick into letting her guard down. ]
—tag! TAG!! [ slaps both hands down on his back, multiple times, until he acknowledges that she won ] I caught you!
I hear you, I hear you! [ There's only a hint of irritation in his voice, nothing too serious as he turns to face her. ] Mm, I guess you did an alright job keeping up.
